How First Quantum modernised FIFO workforce compliance
The challenge: legacy systems couldn’t scale with remote operations
Managing a large, remote FIFO mining workforce requires more than a basic training tool. First Quantum needed a flexible, robust platform to manage compliance, training, and worker competency across a highly dynamic environment.
Their previous system lacked core capabilities:
- No support for tracking multi-component course results
- Limited people data fields and poor customisation
- Minimal reporting functionality
- Lack of responsive vendor support
The solution: a unified workforce management platform
First Quantum implemented Quartex’s workforce training, compliance and competency solution to centralise training records, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
What Charlie Watt, training systems administrator, says:
How was your previous system falling short?
We used a training management tool that had serious limitations. It couldn’t track results for multi-part courses, had restricted data fields, limited reporting, and lacked proper support.
What was the implementation experience like with Quartex?
The training and rollout process for the workforce training and compliance solution was smooth and informative. The Quartex team was highly responsive and supportive throughout.
Would you recommend Quartex?
Absolutely. I’d recommend Quartex to anyone seeking a comprehensive and user-friendly solution for workforce management.
The results: lower costs, higher compliance, better visibility
- Streamlined course and competency management
- Centralised, audit-ready training records
- Reduced training admin overhead
- Improved compliance in a complex remote environment
By digitising its remote FIFO workforce processes with Quartex, First Quantum has positioned itself for scalable, efficient growth while upholding its high safety and compliance standards across the Sentinel operation.
About the Sentinel Copper Project
